The Mix Land: Redefining Streetwear Store Design

Bringing Street Culture to Life

Street culture has become a prominent force in the fashion industry, and with changing consumer preferences, traditional retail stores need to adapt. Enter The Mix Land, a streetwear store designed by Yuan Lijun that captures the essence of street culture and offers a unique shopping experience.

The Mix Land stands out from other streetwear stores with its innovative approach to design. Inspired by the dynamic nature of street culture, the store's interior is transformed into a vibrant and immersive space. Yuan Lijun, the designer, has incorporated three dynamic art installations - energy extraction, condensation, and decomposition tables - that engage customers through sound, vision, and touch. These installations create an interactive experience, resonating with young people and inviting them to explore the store's inner spirit.

What sets The Mix Land apart is its use of neon elements, reminiscent of the wild colors generated in laboratories. Neon highlights, such as a highly saturated neon blue installation, colorful windows and doors, and flickering numbers on digital screens, add a touch of street culture to the space. These elements create constantly changing shadows and bring the store to life, captivating customers as they browse through the curated streetwear collections.

The Mix Land's design also prioritizes flexibility and adaptability. The store's open layout allows for easy rearrangement of display installations, catering to diverse changes and meeting both commercial and experiential needs. This adaptability ensures that the store remains fresh and engaging, providing a dynamic shopping experience for customers.

Located in Hangzhou, The Mix Land was completed in August 2019 and exhibited in September of the same year. The project's duration spanned from March to August, showcasing the dedication and meticulousness of the design team led by Yuan Lijun.

The Mix Land is not just a store; it is a result of extensive research and creative problem-solving. By optimizing and transforming traditional retailing methods and incorporating interactive experiences like art installations, The Mix Land establishes stronger connections with consumer groups and provides multiple channels for content output.

Recognized for its ingenuity and creativity, The Mix Land was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2020 for Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that showcase resourcefulness, technical skill, and contributions to improving the quality of life.
